The Mexican Grand Prix takes place this weekend at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodriguez and we take a look at the race from a betting angle.
CHAMPIONSHIP UPDATE
Max Verstappen extended his unassailable lead in the Championship to a massive 226 points when he won the USA Grand Prix last weekend.
Charles Leclerc had qualified in pole position ahead of Lando Norris and Lewis Hamilton with Verstappen starting 6th on the grid. Verstappen never had things all his own way and he had some brake issues during the race, but managed to hold off Hamilton and Lando Norris. Hamilton and Leclerc who finished 6th were both disqualified when they failed the post-race plank wear test, a technical breach. Carlos Sainz Junior then moved up into 3rd place with Lando Norris pushed up to 2nd. Fastest lap went to Yuki Tsunoda in the final lap of the race.
MEXICAN GRAND PRIX
In last year’s Mexican Grand Prix, Max Verstappen qualified in pole position and he went on to win the race ahead of Lewis Hamilton and Sergio Perez. George Russell finished 4th and got the fastest lap.
That was Max Verstappen’s 2nd win in a row in the Mexican Grand Prix and his 4th in 5 years. Between Hamilton and Verstappen they have won their last 6 Mexican Grand Prix.

Max Verstappen 4/11
Sergio Perez 10/1
Lewis Hamilton 12/1
Lando Norris 20/1
George Russell 25/1
28/1 and better the balance, all prices correct at the time of writing but are subject to change
Suggested Bet: Lewis Hamilton win at 12/1
Hamilton is still searching for his first victory of the season and although he got disqualified on a technicality last time out there is no denying that Mercedes has made progress.
Max Verstappen is, without a doubt, a worthy favourite here, but I am going to take advantage of the World Sports Betting money back for 2nd special and back Hamilton to get the win. Knowing that if he does get pipped by Verstappen I will at least get my stake back.

Suggested Bet: Both cars podium finish, YES, Mercedes at 4/1
Lando Norris also looked quick in the USA, but with only one of the Red Bulls truly firing at the moment I am going to have a speculative play that Mercedes land both drivers on the podium.
